Our Story

Three dogs, one family.

Our three dogs, Max, Sophie, and Kia, are the inspiration behind the Premium Pet Paw brand. Sharing a home with a senior Bichon Frisé, an affectionate Yorkie, and an energetic rescue has taught us that caring for dogs is personal. Each has their own way of playing, exploring, asking for affection, and making themselves understood.

Meet Max

Max, a white Bichon Frise, resting his front paws on a knee and looking up. Max the Bichon Frise lying on a blanket with his head resting on a wooden table.

Max is our 15-year-old Bichon Frisé. He joined our family as a gift from a close family friend and has brought us years of companionship. Loyal, curious, and friendly, he puts so much effort into his bark that his front paws sometimes lift off the ground. When he wants attention, he comes over for a belly rub.

Max is blind in both eyes due to cataracts. As his needs changed, we looked for ways to help him keep enjoying familiar activities. Balls with bells inside allowed him to hear where the toy was and chase after it.

Life with Max has reminded us to consider a dog's changing needs and how thoughtful details can help them enjoy their day.

Meet Sophie

Sophie, a Yorkshire Terrier, sitting in grass and daisies with her tongue out. A blue ball on artificial grass with Sophie the Yorkshire Terrier watching it from behind.

Sophie is our five-year-old Yorkshire Terrier. Having a Yorkie had been a lifelong wish, and she quickly made herself part of every family routine.

Playful, loyal, and affectionate, Sophie loves balls of almost any shape or size. She can play endlessly, then settle on top of you or as close as possible while asking to be petted.

She also likes to be included in whatever is happening. When Max receives his prescribed eye drops, Sophie runs over for her turn. A little pretend attention, without any actual drops, makes her feel included too.

Sophie reminds us how much happiness dogs find in play, affection, and simply being close to their people.

Meet Kia

Kia, a tan and white rescue dog, looking up at the camera.

Kia came into our family after we found her on the street and gave her a home. She is around three years old, and we believe she is a Staffy and Pit Bull mix.

Energetic, playful, and curious, Kia has a little rascal in her personality. She uses her paws almost like hands to express herself and often brings us toys or other objects to invite us into a game.

Her enthusiasm also means that toys do not always last very long. Finding options that suit her style of play has become a familiar challenge in our home.

Kia reminds us to look beyond how a product appears and consider how a dog will actually use it.

Different Dogs, Shared Everyday Needs

All three love being outside and having space to explore. At home, each seeks comfort and connection in a different way. Max asks for belly rubs, Sophie curls up close, and Kia invites us to play.

Together, they have taught us to think carefully about fit, comfort, practicality, and individual preferences. A product that works well for a small dog may not suit a larger one. A senior dog may enjoy a toy differently from a younger, more energetic companion.
